THE "WILL WORK" CAN OPENER
Grip holding handle (D)..see Fig 3 above... and place it's base (B) flat on the top of the can lid with the griping wheel (C)...see Fig 1 above...on the INNER side of the can lid seam. The large teeth of the wheel (C) grips the inside wall of the lid seam and the small teeth of the griping wheel ride on the top of the lid seam. (Have a close look at the opener and see the lid seam griping wheel with it's two sets of teeth.)
Now turn handle (A) in a clockwise direction while keeping the base of the can flat on a bench surface BUT DON"T push hard downward on to the bench.Also do not hold the can ABOVE the bench while opening it.These two things 1) pushing down on the bench and 2) holding the can above the bench put unnecessary work load on the cutting edge and rapidly shorten the life of your opener plus make it harder to turn handle (A). Do it right and it is so much easier to open cans. Turning handle (A) makes the gripping wheel pull the seam hard into the cuting wheel so it can do it's job of spliting the lid seam
You will hear a different sound when the cutting stops and also feelwhen you have finished cutting the seam. Now turn handle (A) backwards in an anti clockwise direction to release the cutting wheel from the lid seam.THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT.If you PULL it off the can BEFORE releasing the curing wheel you will rapidly damage the cutting mechanism. Turing handle (A) backwards totally releases the cutting mechanism and the opener comes away from the can with ZERO resistance.
You can now lift the lid from the can and will see there is no sharp edges on the top of the can or on the lid. The lid can be used to put back on the can when storing in the fridge what is left over in the can.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Never put the opener in water and store in a dry place. Also do not put in a dishwasher. This is a golden rule with all cutting edges including knives as dishwashers damage cutting edges.
Brush with an old toothbrush to "Dry Clean" your opener.
